Dominica Test: Windies crawl to 218-5 at stumps against Pakistan

Roston Chase retired hurt as West Indies crawled to 218 for five against Pakistan in their first innings on Day Three of the third and the final Test at Windsor Park here last evening.

Resuming at Day Two's score of 14-0, the visitors had managed to keep the Caribbean side in check by reducing them to 97 for three at lunch, thanks to Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah.

However, Roston Chase (60) threatened to take the game away by scoring his third Test fifty before he was struck on the elbow by a short ball from Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Amir.

At stumps, Jason Holder (11) and Shane Dowrich (20) had placed West Indies into a reasonable position at stumps, but they were still trailing by 158 runs from Pakistan's first-innings total.

Yasir was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan as he finished the day with three wickets while Mohammad Abbas and Azhar Ali bagged a wicket each.

Earlier, opener Azhar (127) struck his 14th Test century besides sharing a 120-run stand with Babar Azam (55) for the second wicket to guide Pakistan to a first inning total of 376.

Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq (59), who is playing his final match, and Sarfraz Ahmed (51) were other notable contributors for the visitors.

The three-match Test series is currently tied at 1-1 after West Indies won the second Test by 106 runs in Barbados.
