The rescue teams have still not been able to trace the eight missing trekkers in Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh.
Seven students of Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET), Longowal in Punjab, and a local guide, who were on a trekking expedition, have been missing in Malana area of Parvati valley in the district since yesterday.
Out of the missing trekkers, four are from Himachal Pradesh, two from Haryana, one from Punjab and one from Uttar Pradesh.
"Seven students went to Kullu without informing or seeking permission from the hostel authorities... We're in touch with authorities in Kullu and four rescue teams are tracing them," Dean of the institute said.
Meanwhile, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI), Sangrur, said that they would provide help in whatever way possible.
The Superintendent of district police at Kullu, Padam Chand said that in the morning, on second day the rescue team could not locate the missing trekkers.
"We have tried tracing them using choppers but due to bad weather we could only go till 6000 feet. Our teams are trying to locate them," Chand told ANI.
