A Special Task Force (STF) jawan was killed in an encounter with Maoists in Sukma district of Bastar division in Chhattisgarh.
The incident took place on Saturday when a joint team of STF and district police conducting a search operation was attacked by the Maoists.
According to reports, the security forces retaliated by firing back at the Maoists, which forced the latter to retreat into the forests. The exchange of fire continued for about an hour and during the encounter, one STF head constable suffered critical injuries. He was airlifted to a hospital in Jagdalpur where he succumbed to his injuries.
