Yahoo's Chief Operating Officer (COO) Henrique De Castro is reportedly set to quit the company, a regulatory filing has revealed.

De Castro, who had been a former Google employee, is expected to quit the Internet giant on January 16.

According to Cnet, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer had brought De Castro in her team from Google to lead the Internet giant's advertising business.

It had been long rumoured that De Castro would be quitting Yahoo and last year news reports flourished about him being 'on the outs' with Mayer and that he had been feeling the pressure to produce better ad results.

As per Recode's Kara Swisher's report on De Castro's departure from the company, the COO had been fighting for power from new SVP of Americas Ned Brody, mergers and acquisitions head Jackie Reses, and marketing head Kathy Savitt.

Yahoo's share of digital ad revenues declined both in the US and globally, down to 5.8 percent in the US in 2013 from 6.8 percent the year before, when De Castro headed the ad business, the report added.
