Former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich is of the opinion that the club had no choice over David Moyes' sacking and also believes that Sir Alex Ferguson must be held responsible for appointing his own successor at the club.

Bosnich said that Ferguson has got a lot to answer for following Moyes' sacking by United, after the Scot's disastrous campaign at the club, as he had been the one to appoint him as his successor at Old Trafford.

According to News.com.au, Bosnich said that the axed manager has to take some of the blame for his own sacking, although many of the former United players criticised the current squad for their role in Moyes' sacking.

Bosnich, who played for United between 1999-2001, said that Ferguson should take a lot of responsibility for United's current situation as it had been Ferguson's control that prompted his appointment of Moyes.

Bosnich said that it is a great, 'abject' lesson for all sporting clubs around the world to not allow their former manager to choose the one who would be in their shoes next.

The former goalkeeper said that he feels Ferguson chose Moyes because he knew that the Scot would have taken a lot of time to get up to speed to what the former United boss did, adding that Ferguson knew during that time people would still be thinking of him.

Bosnich said that if Ferguson had appointed the likes of Jose Mourinho or Carlo Ancelotti as his successor than they would have made sure that his memory eroded away much quicker than someone like Moyes would have in terms of the success they would have had at United.

Bosnich also said that United had no other option but to dismiss Moyes, especially when the club had been mathematically thrown out of the running for a Champions League spot, the report added.
