'Fascist' Modi thinks he is above the nation: Shivanand Tiwari

Janata Dal United (JD-U) leader Shivanand Tiwari on Monday said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has a fascist mindset and thinks he is above the nation.

"In his Mumbai rally Modi asked people to vote for India when he was actually asking people to vote him. This means he thinks he represents the whole of India, and that he is above the country and every party," said Tiwari.

"This is a fascist mindset, and this can be very dangerous for the people of the country. He is saying all this before even getting elected. You can imagine what will he do if he gets elected," he said.

"He is referred to the Quit India Movement of 1942, but he does not know that the party that he belongs to had nothing to do with the movement. He does not even have any knowledge about the history of his state, or of his country. I do not know what he is going to do," he added.

Addressing a rally in Mumbai, Modi had said on Sunday that just like the Quit India Movement, there should be another movement, which should focus on creating a Congress-free India.

"We have to understand the character of the Congress. People are not the reason for country's problem. Nor is the land, or our history. It is the Congress Governments. So, if you want to solve the nation's problems, then you have to free India from the Congress.
