FIFA's vice-president Jim Boyce has revealed that the decision of Michael Garcia to step down as independent ethics investigator marked a new low in the history of football's governing body.
According to American ethics investigator Garcia, FIFA published an erroneous and incomplete report after his two-year investigation into long standing allegations of corruption surrounding the bidding process for 2018 and 2022 World Cup.
Boyce said that the probing report should be put in the public domain as much as legally possible, adding that the controversy was not going away until the report was being made public, the BBC reported.
Terming Garcia's resignation as a new low in the history of FIFA, Boyce said that he would vote for the report to be made public as legally as possible.
FIFA has decided to go for voting to determine whether to publicly release probing reports, which is scheduled to be held today at a meeting in Marrakesh, Morocco.
Based on the findings of Michael Garcia's investigation, FIFA had acquitted Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022 respectively from charges of corruption.
