Force India driver Sergio Perez has revealed that he had almost quit Formula One after losing his McLaren seat last season.

The Mexican ace, who has returned to winning ways after finishing third behind the Mercedes duo in Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix, lost out in a long-running behind the scenes saga that saw McLaren appoint Kevin Magnussen as the team's number two.

According to the Mirror, Perez was made to wait until two races from the end of the season to discover his fate and came perilously closed to being without options and the driver admitted that he almost quit the sport over frustration when the McLaren decision came.

Perez further said that he struggled hard to find the thing that motivated him to stay in the sport, adding that he managed to sign a deal with Force India as it was a straight-forward decision for him.

However, Perez said that he held no grudges over the way he was treated by the Woking operation as it is time for him to look forward, adding that he has a very good experience from McLaren stint, which made him a better driver than before.

Perez scored a single point in the opening two races while teammate Nico Hulkenberg has finished fifth twice and eighth, the report added.
