The External Affairs Ministry on Friday said that according to the information available through their sources, all the four Indian nationals who have allegedly been abducted by IS, have now been brought back to Sirte in Libya.
"Two days ago, on July 29, at around 11 p.m., our mission head in Tripoli came to know that four Indian nationals, who were returning to India via Tripoli and Tunis, were detained at a check point, approximately 50 kilometers from Sirte," MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup told the media here.
"Of the four Indian nationals, two are from Hyderabad, one from Raichur and one from Bengaluru. Three of them were faculty members at the University of Sirte and one was working at the Sirte University's branch Jufra," he added.
He further said that the Ministry of External Affairs, through its head of mission in Tripoli, is ascertaining the details regarding the incident.
"According to information available through our sources, all the four Indian nationals have been brought back to Sirte. We are in regular touch with the families concerned and all efforts are being made to ensure well being and early release of our four Indian nationals," he added.
