Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Friday criticized the Congress for disrupting parliamentary proceedings and alleged that the grand old party was attempting to obstruct the development of the nation.

"Unfortunately, the Congress Party is trying to obstruct the development of the country and this drama of Congress has been completely exposed. The anarchist and egoistic attitude of the Congress clearly reveals that they are not aware of the ground realities and do even wish to understand the same," Naqvi told ANI.

"Yesterday, when the Home Minister was giving his statement on the terrorist attack in Gurdaspur and Yakub Memon's execution, the Congress Party was raising slogans against the Prime Minister; they should have instead taken a stand against terrorism. This is height of political bankruptcy," he added.

The BJP leader also said that it was time for the Congress Party to review its strategy.

"We have tried from the very beginning that the proceedings in Parliament are conducted smoothly. The works that are being done within the Parliament are related to the development of the country and the Congress is trying to put an obstruction," he added.

Making a statement in the Rajya Sabha on the Gurdaspur terror attack, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh yesterday said that a resolute NDA Government will root out the menace of terrorism from India.

"Government has been, and will remain, resolute in this regard. I take this opportunity to assure the House that the government is firmly committed to root out terrorism from India. I also assure the House that the government will do everything possible to prevent cross-border terrorism aimed against India," he added.

Both the Houses of Parliament have not been able to function with the opposition parties reiterating their demand for External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's resignation over her alleged help to former IPL boss Lalit Modi.
