Free Assessment Camp for disabled people in Jorhat

Now all the disabled people of Jorhat district will be getting the latest appliance under the scheme of Assistance for Disabled Persons by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.

A 4 day long Free Assessment Camp for disabled people was conducted in Jorhat district on January 2 and the same camp will be conducted in Teok, Mariani and Titabor on January 3, 4 and 5 respectively.

The free assessment camp was an effort of Kamakhya Prasad Tassa, sitting MP of Jorhat. Tassa requested to the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment for conducting free assessment camp in his home district last year and subsequently the request was granted by the Ministry. On the first day of camp at Jorhat, Tassa addressing the crowd assured all kinds of assistance to disabled persons and also asked them to give the details of their demands.

The assessment camp was conducted by a team of Artificial Manufacturing Cooperation of India, led by Rakesh Kumar Das. Hundreds of disabled persons attended the assessment camp held at Bisturam Hall and Teok.

Those with locomotion disability will be provided with artificial limbs, calipers, tri cycle and wheel chair; for hearing handicap hearing aids will be made available, latest smartphones; for blind latest smart cane and for mentally retarded cerebral chair, MSIT kit, etc. Only those people who have 40% disability with income less than 15000/- pm and are citizen of India will be eligible for the scheme. Selected people in the camp will receive their appliances within 60 days.
