Fresh firing in Assam's Golaghat District today reportedly killed at least three persons and injured seven others.
The incident took place post yesterday's violent protest over Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi's visit to the area where his convoy was attacked near the Assam-Nagaland border.
The demonstrators even attacked the local police and destroyed vehicles due to which the local police had to resort to firing in the air and launch baton charge to disperse the protesters.
Terming the incident as political, Gogoi said earlier today that he had ordered an enquiry as to whether the police did excess in connection to the incident.
Earlier, Gogoi and Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang had reportedly sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's help to resolve their border-related issues.
