The Proteas' team management has announced that former coach, Gary Kirsten, will join the team as batting mentor for the one-day series against Pakistan in UAE.
According to Sport24, Kirsten, who resigned as Proteas coach in May, was last month appointed as head coach of Indian Premier League (IPL) side, the Delhi Daredevils.
Meanwhile, fast bowler Dale Steyn is being rested for the first two ODIs, and will return back to South Africa before joining up with the squad for the remainder of the series as well as the T20I series, the report said.
Colin Ingram has been placed on stand-by for Hashim Amla, who is still in South Africa awaiting the birth of his second child, the report added.
Ingram will join up with the squad on Monday morning, according to the report.
