George Clooney says Philip Seymour Hoffman's death was 'senseless'

George Clooney has paid tribute to late Philip Seymour Hoffman, who died from an apparent drug overdose in his Manhattan Apartment, while asserting that the actor's death was "senseless and sad".

The 52-year-old actor said at the NYC premiere of his movie 'The Monuments Men' that it was difficult for him to be in the city just days after a good friend of his has passed away, the New York Post reported.

The Oscar-winning star asserted that everybody at the event put on a brave face to get through this because Hoffman's death is a pretty traumatic thing, adding that the 'Capote' star will be greatly missed.
