Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Monday said the government will follow established procedure while appointing the next Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director.

"Government will follow the procedure," he said.

Earlier last week, the Parliament passed the Delhi Special Police Establishment (Amendment) Bill, 2014 wherein, the CBI director will henceforth be selected by a panel comprising of the Prime Minister, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha or the leader of the single largest party in the House and Chief Justice of India or any Supreme Court Judge.

The present CBI Director, Ranjit Sinha, is due to retire on December 2.
