Grenade blast at Amway head office in Imphal

The Amway office located near the NRL Oil Pump in Mantripukhri under Heingang Police Station yesterday witnessed a hand grenade explosion.

There were two grenade attacks, out of which one grenade exploded at around 6.25 pm yesterday on top of the Amway head office. The officers of Heingang police along with senior police personnel rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

No casualties were reported in the explosion.

Dinesh Kumar Rampal, a local resident said that similar blasts have happened twice in the last few days.

"On September 22 one bomb blasted around 6.35pm. After that one blast took place on September 25 as well, around the same time."

With a series of such events, the Amway office in Imphal has been under heavy pressure over monetary demands from the militant outfits on several occasions.

However, the latest blast could not be immediately established in terms of which group was responsible for the blast and what was the motive behind such blasts.
