In what could be seen as one of the most bizarre reasons for stoppage of play, a tennis match at the Sarasota Open in Florida was briefly interrupted by a couple's moaning.
The first-round match between Frances Tiafoe and Mitchell Krueger at James T. Driscoll Stadium on Tuesday was briefly halted after a couple in a nearby house were facing off in a very different setting.
Tiafoe, who was preparing to serve midway through the second set, was distracted by impressively loud noise of moaning which echoed in the entire court.
Initially, commentator Mike Cation thought someone in the crowd forgot to turn the volume down when playing a video on their phone.
"Well, that is the most bizarre situation," Cation said on the broadcast. "I don't know how to put this, folks, but somebody's phone is going off in the stands . and it was an adult video."
However, later on, Cation confirmed that it was not porn playing on a cellphone, rather it was a real-life 'coitous' action.
"Nope, that's not a phone. That is . that's an apartment across the lake," he said. "Well, everyone was looking around to see where that was coming from and finally, figure out, that wasn't a video. At least somebody's having a good night."
While spectators erupted with laughter in the stands, Tiafoe shouted, "It can't be that good!"
Tiafoe was able to put the disturbance behind him and carried on to win the match in straight sets 6-3 6-2.
