Herbalife, a global nutrition company, announced its partnership with Special Olympics Bharat (SOB) to support and encourage athletes with intellectual disabilities in India.
Beginning with the 2017 Winter Special Olympics World Games, Herbalife India has entered into a two-year partnership with the Special Olympics Bharat to train athletes with intellectual disabilities; and bring public attention to the talents and capabilities of people with intellectual disabilities - helping to change attitudes and break down barriers that excluded them from the mainstream of the community.
"Supporting a healthy, active lifestyle and athletes is in the ethos of Herbalife Nutrition. For instance, in 2016 we began a partnership with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), through becoming the Official Nutrition Partner of the Indian Olympic Team to Rio. This new partnership with Special Olympics Bharat exemplifies our commitment to helping athletes discover new strengths, skills and success - on the playing field and in life," said Ajay Khanna, Vice President and Country Head - Herbalife International India.
"This year, 2,700 athletes from 107 nations are competing at the games, and India is sending the largest contingent, with 100 athletes. We, at Herbalife Nutrition, wish every athlete the very best, hoping they fulfil their dreams and aspirations," added Khanna.
"We are proud and honoured to be associated with a company that is committed to health, diversity and community, and supporting our athletes. This is a classic example of inclusion, which we have long advocated. I want to thank Herbalife Nutrition for perceiving our athletes' need for nutrition support along with raising awareness about their abilities, and for joining us and sharing our experience in helping athletes achieve their best," said Air Marshal Denzil Keelor, CEO- Special Olympics Bharat.
