Elizabeth Bank has revealed that she was rejected for the role of Mary-Jane in 'Spiderman' because she was apparently "too old" to be Tobey Maguire's love interest.
In an interview with Glamour Magazine, the 42-year-old actress, who is just 16 months older than Maguire, said that she screen-tested for the role in the 2002 film, when she was around 27 or 28 years old, reports News.com.au.
She added, "Tobey and I are basically the same age and I was told I was too old to play her. I'm like, 'Oh OK, that's what I've signed up for'."
Since, the role was offered to Kirsten Dunst, now aged 34, the 'Walk of Shame' star had to settle for a much smaller role in the film, playing Betty Brant, a secretary at the Daily Bugle, a role she reprised in two more Spider-Man films.
