The Himachal Pradesh Government on Friday ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the gang-rape and murder case of a minor girl that took place earlier this week in Shimla's Kotkhai.

Yesterday, a total of six people were arrested in this matter.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Himachal, which was headed by Inspector General of Police southern range, Zahoor Zaidi, had taken the six youth to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

The girl was a student at Mahasu government school in Kotkhai. While returning back from school, she was kidnapped and raped. This incident happened on July 4.

Two days later, police recovered her body from that Halaila forests of Kotkhai.

The post-mortem report had revealed injury marks on the dead girl's body.

Earlier in the week, the Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had announced a reward of Rs. one lakh to anyone providing any information about the culprits.

This incident had sparked widespread outrage in the town and people came out to protest at many places, demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
