With Pakistan stating that Indian fighter jets allegedly entered three nautical miles into the country's airspace, India today clarified that the fighter jets, on a routine flying training sortie, seem to have flown close to the border.

"Apropos media reports regarding Indian fighter planes entering Pakistan territory, it is clarified that IAF aircraft which were on a routine flying training sortie seem to have flown close to the border and it appears to be a technical violation. The same has also been conveyed to the Pakistan authorities," said a statement issued by the Indian Air Force (IAF).

According to the agreement between India and Pakistan on Prevention of Airspace Violations, combat aircraft should not fly within 10-km of each other's airspace. No aircraft of any side will enter the airspace over the territorial waters of the ether country, except by prior permission.
