In a first, Dalit woman appointed as priest in Gokarnanatha Temple

Breaking all stereotypes, a Dalit woman has been appointed as priest in Kudroli Gokarnanatha Temple in Karnataka's Mangalore city.

Lakshmi, the woman priest, has been working in the temple since last year.

"I am very proud and happy with my work. I have been working here since last one year. I work here daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.," Lakshmi told ANI.

Gokarnanatheshwara Temple, also known as Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Kshetra, is in the Kudroli area of Mangalore in Karnataka.
