Nepal's Sajha Yatayat Chairman and veteran journalists Kanak Mani Dixit was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Bir Hospital here on Saturday.
Dixit was arrested Friday on the orders of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) over charges of illegally amassing property.
Kunda Dixit, Kanak Mani Dixit's brother, confirmed the latter's admittance to hospital today, reports The Himalayan Times.
Dixit, was admitted to the hospital to check uncontrolled blood pressure and heart condition.
The CIAA issued a press statement, saying it is investigating charges filed against the Sajha Yatayat chairman, including the allegation that he amassed property and deposited sums in domestic and foreign banks in his name and in the names of other family members, besides acquiring an apartment in the United States.
Dixit was in the custody of Metropolitan Police Circle, Gaushala till he was admitted to hospital. Futher details are awaited.
