India dismisses UN report branding terrorists as "leaders"

India has dismissed the United Nations report, which refers to designated terrorist entities as "armed groups" and "leaders".

In an official statement at the 38th session of the Human Rights Council, India called the report 'fallacious' and 'motivated'.

The statement highlighted that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, and Pakistan is forcibly and illegally occupying it. It further said that the report has sought the dismemberment of India.

India also quoted the incident of the assassination of Rising Kashmir newspaper's editor Shujaat Bukhari, who was shot dead by terrorists in Press Colony in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar on June 14.

The report said that cross-border terrorism seeks to muzzle the voices of civilians, and "last week's gruesome assassination of a senior journalist and his security officers, silencing a voice of moderation, and the brutal killing of a soldier, while he was on his way back home for Eid, are chilling reminders".

India in its report urged the United Nations Council to reject all efforts to legitimise terrorism and subvert UN-led consensus on terrorism.
