Indo-Pak Chakothi bridge standoff meeting over stranded trucks proves futile

The Chakothi bridge meeting held by official delegations from the Indian and Pakistani Line of Control (LOC), to resolve the issue of stranded trucks, has reportedly yielded no results.

Following an eleven-day standoff, the meeting was held at the Chakothi bridge, which divides the state of Jammu and Kashmir, to discuss the issue of stranded trucks and the continuation of Muzaffarabad-Srinagar Bus and Truck services.

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir delegation was led by Pakistan's Director General Travel and Trade Authority (Tata) Brigadier Retired Muhammad Ismail while the Indian team was led by Secretary Industries Muhammad Javid Khan, The Express Tribune reported.

The standoff is the result of the arrest of an Azad Jammu and Kashmir truck driver, who was detained by the Indian authorities on account of smuggling drugs.

Meanwhile, another meeting has been scheduled for Thursday to resolve the matter.
