The Nawaz Sharif Government has been handed over a report that indicates that so far half-a-million Internally-Displaced People from North Waziristan (NW) and neighbouring areas have been registered.
The report says 572,529 IDPs belonging to 44,633 families have been registered since the start of Operation Zarb-e-Azb. However, up to 93 displaced families have moved back to Eidak village of agency's Mirali tehsil which is now clear of militants.
In the wake of military operation taking place in full swing, the number of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) is increasing day by day in Pakistan.
In his tweet Major General Asim Bajwa, spokesperson Inter-Service Public Relation (ISPR) wrote that the number of IDPs in camps has risen from 276 to 337. Till now half a million IDPs have been registered.
The United States has given out an amount of $31 million and United Arab Emirates has extended $20.5 million for the help of IDPs.
While speaking to journalists in Pakistan, Defence Minister Khawaja Mohmmad Asif said that there can't be a defined time frame to end the military operation in North Waziristan. He said that Zarb-E-Azb operation will continue till there is complete eradication of terrorism, militancy, and insurgency form tribal areas.
Best that has come out in this military operation is the anti-polio drive. A 3 day polio vaccination programme has been organised in Bannu camp where around 500,000 children including IDPs will be given polio drops.
