Taking a dig at Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti on Thursday advised the former to check the level of tolerance in the nation where he wishes to take his wife.
"He (Aamir Khan) should first see how much tolerance is there (in the nation) where he wants to take his wife," she said.
Jyoti further said that India is a tolerant country where everybody can live in a tolerant manner.
The actor had yesterday clarified that neither he nor his wife Kiran have any intention of leaving the country as he is proud to be an Indian.
"First let me state categorically that neither I, nor my wife Kiran, have any intention of leaving the country. We never did, and nor would we like to in the future. Anyone implying the opposite has either not seen my interview or is deliberately trying to distort what I have said. India is my country, I love it, I feel fortunate for being born here, and this is where I am staying," Khan said in a statement.
Speaking at the eighth edition of the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards, Aamir had earlier expressed alarm and despondency over the rise in cases displaying intolerance in the last six to eight months.
He had said that a sense of 'insecurity' and 'fear' had seeped deep within society.
"When I go home and talk to Kiran (Aamir's wife), for the first time she says, 'Should we move out of India?'" Khan said.
