Fast bowler Ishant Sharma has been released from the India team to return as Delhi captain for the Ranji Trophy match.

Sharma, who was not in the playing XI, but was named in the India Test squad against Sri Lanka in Kolkata, has been released from the team to take part in Delhi's must-win match against Maharashtra at New Delhi's Airforce Complex ground on Friday.

The right-arm bowler had earlier missed Delhi's match against Karnataka.

Sharma, 29, will rejoin the Indian squad for the Nagpur Test on November 28.
