IT has changed the way the world looks at India: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that Information Technology has revolutionised the way the world looks at India, adding that progress is incomplete without 'information ways'.

"Times are changing. I-ways or information ways are as important highways. Progress is incomplete without I-ways. The faster you all make mobile apps, the faster you will capture the market," the Prime Minister said, while attending NASSCOM's silver jubilee celebrations.

"IT has changed the way the world looks at India. Your efforts will inspire the younger generations," he added.

Prime Minister Modi also stressed upon the importance of the search engine Google in day-to-day lives.

"You are doing a great job and that is why I can expect things; don't we wonder why Google wasn't developed in our nation?" he asked of the gathering.

"IT is in everything: shopping, banking, and every other sector. Everyone under 18 has only one guru: Google guru," he added.

The Prime Minister also emphasized on the growing IT sector, by saying, "IT sector has grown to USD 146 billion from USD 100 million 25 years back".

He further thrust upon the worries of cyber security and called upon IT professionals to develop solutions.

"World is worried about cyber security. Can we do innovation in this field, there will be a huge market I am sure," he said.

Further stressing on the importance of technology, the Prime Minister said that the IT industry could create a big market for India's tourism.

"10 percent of LPG leakage has been stopped with the use of direct subsidy transfer, helping save thousands of crores of rupees," he said.

He also said that there was a need for a revolution in mobile governance.

"I am active on social media, including LinkedIn where all of you are there.

I am going to seek ideas for PMO Mobile App. After that it will be about execution," Prime Minister added.
