Expressing his regret over the death of five jawans following an attack on an army camp in Uri Sector, Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh on Friday said that the incident could have been an outcome of the overwhelming voting in the state.
"My heart goes out to Army men who gave their life in today's encounter, possibly an outcome of the overwhelming voting in Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
Meanwhile, Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar commenting on today's terror attack said that the Army had been intercepting terrorists and eliminating them in the last few days.

"It could possibly be because of the elections; we have killed three of them. Last few days, Army has been intercepting terrorists and eliminating them. I think it's a sign of increased interception by Army," said Parrikar.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Majeed Memon, however, took on the government on the issue.
"It's a serious matter that government is unable to stop such incidents from happening," he said.
Earlier today, five Army jawans and two police personnel were killed after six militants attacked Mahura Camp, near Rampur in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district. One terrorist was also killed in the attack.
