The new 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' trailer revealed plenty of new details about the wizarding world of 1920s New York, but one of the biggest reveals involved Fantastic Beasts' Hufflepuff hero, Newt Scamander and his connection to a familiar face from the world of Harry Potter, which was enlightened by J.K Rowling herself.
The trailer reveals that Newt, played by Eddie Redmayne, was expelled from Hogwarts for "endangering human life with a beast," but one of his teachers advocated against his expulsion and he was none other than Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, reports Entertainment Weekly.
After the trailer dropped, Harry Potter author and Fantastic Beasts screenwriter J.K. Rowling took to Twitter to discuss the relationship between Scamander and Dumbledore, teasing, "Albus Dumbledore is fond of Newt Scamander for the same reasons that I am fond of Newt Scamander.
You're welcome."
She also added that even Dumbledore's advocacy wasn't enough to stop Newt's expulsion, "Dumbledore was a young teacher at the time Newt was expelled. He wasn't able to revoke expulsions.
