A prisoner in Kenya chopped off his own penis after he was told that he would not be allowed to go free after being in jail for 15 years.
According to prison authorities, Francis Karuri engaged in an act of self mutilation because he believed that he would have no use of his manhood in jail, the Daily Star reported.
The authorities also revealed that Karuri had not received a traditional Presidential pardon that would have made him a free man.
Karuri was so depressed with the news that he cut off his penis and mopped the floor of his cell before passing out due to loss of blood.
13 hours later, Karuri was taken to the hospital, but the doctors were unable to reattach the organ.
