The Congress Party on Tuesday avoided commenting on the Karnataka Government's to file an appeal in the Supreme Court to protest the acquittal of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa in connection with a disproportionate assets case, saying it would react only after knowing about the investigation in detail.

"This is the decision of the Karnataka Government. I am not aware of the investigation. Only when I come to know about the investigation will I be able to react on it," Congress leader Meem Afzal told ANI here.

The Karnataka High Court had given a clean chit to Jayalalithaa and three others on May 11, clearing them of "all charges" in the 19-year-old case, helping her to return as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

The Bengaluru trial court had convicted Jayalalithaa for possessing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income and sentenced her to a four-year jail term and imposed a fine of Rs. 100 crore.
