President Donald Trump's Attorney General Jeff Sessions has denied allegations that he spoke twice with Russian ambassador to the United States, Sergey Kislyak, during the former's presidential campaign.
"I never met with any Russian officials to discuss issues of the campaign. I have no idea what this allegation is about. It is false," CNN quoted a statement issued by Sessions as saying.
According to the Justice Department, Attorney General Sessions had met Kislyak in Washington twice last year.
Sessions, however, did not mention about either of the meetings during his confirmation hearings when he said that he knew of no contacts between Trump surrogates and the Russians.
A Justice official said that Sessions didn't mislead the Senators during his confirmation.
It was Sessions' interactions with Sergey Kislyak led to former national security adviser Mike Flynn's firing.
