Indian Metrological Department (IMD) Ranchi Director Bk Mandal on Sunday said that Jharkhand is expected to experience mild to heavy rains as Cyclone Hudhud passes over Vishakhapatnam, with conditions likely to recede to normal by Tuesday.
"Our forecast is that the storm will move in the northwest direction and will affect Jharkhand. As of now, there is light rainfall in Jharkhand, which will intensify tomorrow. There will be heavy rains and strong winds in some parts of the state," Mandal told ANI.
A number of buildings were damaged as earlier in the day, Hudhud made landfall with smashing 180 kmph winds recorded.
Over four lakh people have been reportedly evacuated from the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha till now.
Forty two NDRF teams have been sent to Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, with the maximum concentration around Vishakhapatnam.
