Dr. Jitendra Singh said here on Monday that the North East is a high priority issue of the central government.
Speaking after assuming independent charge of the Ministry for the Development of the North Eastern Region, he said, "As per the directions of Prime Minister Modi we have taken responsibility of north east region. It is on high priority of the central government."
"As our PM believes that it is equally necessary to develop north east for overall development of the country," he added.
He also said that he will try to fulfill the expectations of the central government.
Dr. Jitendra Singh now has independent charge of the Ministry for the Development of the North Eastern Region. JP Nadda was given the Health and Family Welfare portfolio, while previous incumbent Dr. Harsh Vardhan was shifted to the Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Ministry.
