JK Rowling has declared that she will be co-producing a new stage play based on the early years of Harry Potter.
The UK novelist, who will be producing the stage show with producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, said that she had "received countless approaches" over the years about turning Harry Potter into a theatrical production, the BBC reported.
But Friedman and Callender's vision, which had the sensitivity, intensity and intimacy she thought appropriate for bringing Potter's story to the stage, was the only one that really made sense to her, Rowling said.
According to the producers, the play that will move into development in 2014 and staged in the UK, will explore the previously untold story of Potter's early years as an orphan and outcast.
