England batsman Joe Root hit his maiden Test double century as the hosts scored 575-9, their highest total in three years, declared on the second day of their first Test against Sri Lanka at Lord's.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka closed their opening day on 140-1, with openers Kaushal Silva at 62 not out and Kumar Sangakkara, who is reportedly seeking to cap an illustrious career with a first Lord's Test century, unbeaten on 32.
According to the BBC, Sri Lanka opener Dimuth Karunaratne was put down in the slips before Chris Jordan dismissed him with his third ball in Test cricket.
Later, England were reportedly incensed by the television umpire's to give Silva the benefit of the doubt after he appeared to have been caught behind low by Matt Prior.
Prior said that he thought it carried, he felt the ball hit the hard bit of his finger, adding that he has gone forward at the ball and they are disappointed.
England's low order added 231 runs in 41 overs on Friday after they resumed on 344-5, the report added.
