American film director John Singleton is currently in a coma after suffering a major stroke, last week.
E! News obtained legal documents that revealed the filmmaker's health condition after suffering a major stroke on April 17.
Singleton's mother, Shelia Ward, requested that she be appointed his temporary conservator because he "is unable to provide for his personal needs, or manage his financial resources."
Additionally, the documents stated that Singleton was "engaged in several business projects and was prepared to sign a lucrative settlement agreement" weeks after suffering a stroke.
Singleton's mother has also been asked to handle her son's business affairs on his behalf.
The director's family had previously confirmed he suffered a stroke on April 17 but did not elaborate on his condition.
Singleton had checked into a hospital after experiencing leg pain, sources told Variety. The outlet added that doctors categorized Singleton's stroke as "mild."
Singleton was nominated for an Oscar for 1991 hit film 'Boyz n the Hood'. His other films include 'Poetic Justice', 'Higher Learning', '2 Fast 2 Furious'. Michael Jackson's 'Remember the Time' music video and episodes of shows like 'Empire' and 'Billions'.
His most recent projects include a show he co-created for the FX Network 'Snowfall', which was renewed last year for the third season.
