A sore hamstring has left Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Johnson in doubt for the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) Test, which would be the fourth and final Test of the four-match series, against India.
An Australian team spokesperson said that Johnson would be rested from Saturday's training session and the paceman's hamstring would be assessed on Sunday, News.com.au reported.
Mitchell Starc and Test veteran Peter Siddle are reportedly waiting to be called in Australia's Test squad should selectors decide to rest Johnson.
The left-arm quick is vital to Australia's World Cup hopes on home soil in February and March and could be rested for the dead-rubber SCG clash, as the hosts have already won the series 2-0, winning two Tests and drawing one, the report added.
