Julia Roberts has hopped aboard the upcoming film 'Batkid' film as a producer and actor.
The Oscar-winning actress, 47, sealed a deal to adapt the Slamdance premiere documentary about the 5-year-old leukemia patient, Miles Scott, who was granted his wish to be a superhero, when thousands of volunteers, along with President Obama, helped turn San Francisco into Gotham City for a day, Deadline.com reported.
The youngster became a hero on November 15, 2013, with 25,000 supporters across the city, and on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, tracking his heroics through a chain of staged tasks.
By the end of it, Scott received the key to the city from Mayor Ed Lee and sparked media attention and more than 400K tweets in 117 countries, reaching over 1.84 billion social media users.
Roberts would star and produce with her Red Om Films partners Lisa Gillan and Marisa Yeres Gill, while 'Batkid Begins' director Dana Nachman executive produces along with Submarine's Josh Braun and Dan Braun.
Nachman said it was thrilling to have Roberts as part of the team and watch her dedicating time and creative capital to make sure Miles' story was heard across the globe.
