Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Syed Javaid Gillani on Wednesday said the telecom towers attack in the state appeared to be the handiwork of Hizbul Mujahideen.
"So far our investigation has pointed that this is the handiwork of Hizbul Mujahideen. They may be denying it, but we've found during our investigation, that boys affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen are involved," Jilani told ANI.
"Investigation is going on, we have certain leads which we are following up. We have restored most of towers which were down, 80 percent of towers which were not working have started working," he added.
One man was shot dead by militants in the state's Sopore town today, where a BSNL mobile tower was installed.
This is the second incident within a day where gunmen targeted people associated with telecom business.
An employee of the BSNL franchise was killed and two others were injured after a few gunmen opened fire in their office earlier on Monday.
