Musician Keith Richards has apologised to singer Mick Jagger for suggesting vasectomy after the latter became a father for the eighth time in 2016.

It is no news that the lead guitarist and lead singer of Rolling Stones are at loggerheads, every now and then.

However, this time seems like, Richards had to bite his tongue and apologise for an offhand remark made on 74-year-old Jagger during an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

The WSJ quoted Richards as saying "Mick's a randy old bastard. It's time for the snip - you can't be a father at that age. Those poor kids!" in an online article published on Wednesday.

Retracting his statement, the 74-year-old guitarist tweeted, "I deeply regret the comments I made about Mick in the WSJ which were completely out of line. I have of course apologised to him in person".

The interview was followed by the announcement of newest Europe tour dates for the rock band, Rolling Stones which starts from March 17 in Dublin.

In the interview, Richards also hinted at new music by the Stones He said, "It will happen; don't worry about it' - but it's in the early stages".

The Stones was recently awarded a Grammy for their 2016 blues album, 'Blue and Lonesome'.
