Former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday said incumbent chief minister Arvind Kejriwal should be more responsible with his statements, adding that the latter is no longer an opposition leader.

"Gajendra Singh's suicide was a very sad incident and I think it was unduly politicised and made into an issue. I don't want to comment on the Chief Minister. He did what he thought he should. My personal feeling is that as a Chief Minister, his statements should be much more responsible rather than politicising them," Dikshit told ANI.

"He should understand that he is no longer Kejriwal, the opposition leader. He is now the Chief Minister of Delhi," she added.

Earlier in the day, Kejriwal said he is willing to take the blame for Gajendra's public suicide at an Aam Aadmi Party rally in the national capital, as long as the debate veers back to the plight of the farmers in the country.

Kejriwal further admitted that he should have called off the rally after Gajendra's death.

Gajendra had committed suicide on Wednesday by hanging himself from a tree during an Aam Aadmi Party rally against the Land Acquisition Bill in New Delhi.

As per reports, a suicide note was found that revealed the farmer, who had three children, was banished from his house after his crop was damaged. He took the extreme step because he had no means of support his family.
