Kevin James has joined the cast of upcoming family adventure film 'Stranded', which is reportedly inspired by 'The Swiss Family Robinson'.
According to the sources, the Sony Pictures' project will be scripted by Tripper Clancy while James and Todd Garner will produce along with Sean Robins, the Hollywood Reporter reported.
The Johann David Wyss novel, which was first published in 1812, centered on a Swiss family who were shipwrecked on a deserted island while attempting to travel to Australia.
The book has been adapted to big screen twice before, one being in 1940 directed by Edward Ludwig and another by Disney in 1960, which had become one of the most iconic Disney live-action films ever.
