Seattle police has confirmed that they won't re-open Kurt Cobain's case and the re-examination of new evidence hasn't changed the facts about his death.

However, the police have released new photos of the crime scene, which shows scratched images of syringes, a tainted spoon, a lighter and other personal belongings strewn across the floor, the CNN reported.

The Nirvana frontman's upcoming 20th death anniversary had stirred rumors on the social media that cops might be reopening the case after the officials developed four rolls of film that had been sitting for years in an evidence vault.

Police spokesperson Renee Witt had also said that files were dug up, but nothing new was found, and that the police plan to release the new photographs that were uncovered during the re-examination of the case.

Cobain, 27, was found dead with a shotgun wound in the head at his home on Lake Washington Boulevard on 8 April 1994 and an investigation had concluded that he committed suicide three days before his body was discovered.
