Nine amendments will reportedly be moved by the NDA Government to ensure the smooth passage of the Land Acquisition Bill in Parliament on Tuesday.
According to reports, it is expected that social infrastructure projects will be removed from the exempted categories. Acquisition of land will also be restricted to within a kilometre on the both sides of railway tracks and highways.
An amendment to allow state governments to establish land banks for acquisition for later development projects is also in the offing.
A hassle free mechanism for redressal of grievances of losers of land and mandatory employment for farm labourers affected by land acquisition is also under consideration.
The government will also do away with the provision of moving the high court for appeals against land acquisition and allow people to approach authorities within the district first for redressal.
