The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police (DGP) of Rajasthan to probe into the demolition of houses in a village by builder mafia to seize the land.
The apex court asked the duo to file the report within four weeks and directed the authorities to ensure well-being of the concerned person.
The petition, which was filed by the people from Julmi village in Kota district, alleged the demolition of their houses by a builder mafia to usurp the land.
Not only the community temples have been damaged, but a large number of trees have also been cut down. The villagers alleged that mafias have also abducted one of the villagers named Raniya on December 4, 2015, and said they have been trying for his release ever since.
There are about 60 tribal families living in the village at the moment. Out of which 42 houses have been damaged and so far no FIR has been registered either with regard to demolition or with regard to abduction of Raniya.
The tribal people have claimed that they have made the barren land of the village fertile with their hard work, but now they are being forced to move out.
The villages have sought the apex court to direct the Rajasthan Police to produce the abducted villager.
They have also sought registration of FIR against the mafias for demolition of their dwellings and compensate them for all damages and harassment till date.
