Australia coach Darren Lehmann has backed retiring skipper Michael Clarke, saying the latter should deserve the chance to go out with respect and dignity he has gained over his illustrious career.
Lehmann also said that as a coach and as a selection panel, they were very well aware of the pressure and scrutiny that comes with the job of captaining Australia's Test team.
He added that they want Clarke to enjoy some time with his family before he plays his final Test, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
Clarke had confirmed that he would retire from international cricket after Australia relinquished the Ashes series following an innings and 78-run defeat against England in the fourth Test at Trent Bridge.
The captain came under a lot of pressure during the series as he averaged only 16 in his last eight innings.
The fifth and final Ashes Test will be played at The Oval from August 20.
