Liam Hemsworth opened up about how his wife Miley Cyrus had no hesitations in taking her husband's last name after their wedding last year.
During an appearance on 'Live With Kelly and Ryan' on Friday, the 'Isn't It Romantic' star confirmed that Miley took his last name and also reflected upon the joys of married life, reported People.
"I heard you got married…to one of my favorite people, Miley Cyrus," co-host Kelly Ripa said while speaking to Hemsworth.
"Miley Ray Hemsworth now, actually," Hemsworth responded, adding that the 26-year-old singer "took my name," although she'll continue to "be known as Miley Cyrus" professionally.
Expressing his happiness about the same he said, "I think that was honestly one of the best things about it. I didn't ask her to take my name, but then she's like, 'No, of course I'm taking your name. I'm like, 'That's awesome. That's really good."
Talking about his post-marriage life, Hemsworth also shared that it's finally sinking in that Cyrus is now his wife.
"It's become a little more normal," he said, adding that it "was really fun to be wife and husband" during the first couple of weeks following their intimate December wedding.
The actor went on to share that after their wedding, he decided that it was time to update her name in his phone.
"I just have her in as 'Wife,'" Hemsworth sweetly added.
Hemsworth also explained why the couple opted for an intimate ceremony rather than something big and dreamy.
He revealed that they "never wanted to do anything too extravagant or big. We find the whole thing kind of embarrassing. We know how we feel about each other, but we just wanted to do something simple and organic and just with immediate family. But it was a really nice day. Really special."
Hemsworth was recently honoured at the G'Day USA Gala. As he went on to the accept the excellence in film award, he made sure to thank his beloved wife, who was in the crowd cheering for him.
"Thank you to my beautiful wife. You are a sweet, sweet angel. You're great, you're great," Hemsworth said near the end of his speech. After which the singer could be heard shouting from her seat, "More about me! He playfully added, "Yeah, I'll tell you later."
Cyrus and Hemsworth tied the knot in a secret wedding ceremony at their home in Franklin, Tennessee on December 23, reported E! Online.
